QUOIN

QUOIN, a sort of wedge, employed to raise the cannon to a proper level, that it may be more truly directed to the object.

QUOINS are also employed to wedge off the casks of wine, oil, spirituous liquors, &c. from each other, that their bilges may not rub against each other so as to occasion a leak, by the agitation of the ships, at sea.
