Plate. IX. The first two figures, reckoning from the left hand, are chissels or gouges; the third an adze of the smaller kind, the fourth, the instrument with which the bread-fruit is beaten into paste; the fifth, the nasal flute; the sixth, a thatching needle; the seventh, the instrument used for beating the cloth, over which is a square representing the end of it, to shew the different size of the grooves on the four sides, the number of which is expressed in figures.
