Pereira, Manuel (? - 1771)

Died: 27 February 1771
Manuel Pereira joined the crew of the Endeavour as an able-bodied seaman at Rio on 2 December 1768. He was accused of desertion at Tahiti in June 1769, but the charge was dismissed. He received a dozen lashes after being found guilty of deserting his post and stealing Maori potatoes soon after the Endeavour reached the Bay of Islands in November 1769.

Pereira died of dysentry or typhoid on 27 February 1771.
